You will also enjoy a cruise through the amazing Halong Bay, spend the night on board the ship and enjoy a Vietnamese cooking class by the chef. In Laos, you will discover the former royal capital of the Kingdom of Laos - Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage city, and visit the temples of Wat Visoun, Wat May, Wat Xieng Thong and Wat Praphoutahbat. You will enjoy trekking around the Ban Nam Dee village area, discover Nam Dee Waterfall, and visit the Akha, Tailue and Lolo ethnic minorities in the Muang Sing Valley area. Also, you will discover the villages of Ban Leu Donchai and Yao Ban Phakha, home to the Akha and Yao ethnic minorities and taste the traditional “khao soi” (typical soup). You will visit the sacred temple of Pha Chao Sing Kham and Kuang Si Waterfall. You will enjoy a boat ride across the Nam Ou River towards Nong Khiaw and climb Phousi Hill for the best view of Luang Prabang from above.

Itinerary


Upon your arrival at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, you will be transferred to your accommodation in the city.

Free time for rest.

You will then be transferred to the station to take the night train to Lao Cai (4-berth shared cabin).

Overnight in train.

After arriving in Lao Cai, you will be transferred to the hotel, where you will have some free time for rest.

The day will begin with a soft trekking to Y Linh Ho village, where the Black H'mong ethnic minority live.

Lunch at a local house.

After lunch, you will continue your trekking to Lao Chai village, surrounded by impressive rice terraces. Next, you will visit the village of Ta Van, where people belonging to the Dzay ethnic minority live. The small, narrow road leading to Ta Van is beautiful with terraces on either side. The simple beauty of the stilt houses of the village will also amaze you.

Upon arrival in Ta Van, you will enjoy a relaxing evening between rice paddies and a family dinner.

Overnight in Ta Van village.

After breakfast, you will continue your trekking itinerary through the villages of Giang Ta Chai y Su Pan, where people belonging to Dzao Rojo and H'mong Negro ethnic minorities live. You will cross the Ra Tan Bridge, before returning to Sapa.

Next, you will be transferred to the train station to take the night train to Hanoi (4-berth shared cabin).

Overnight in train.

In the morning, you will be transferred to Halong Bay where you will enjoy a cruise including reception with a welcome drink. Halong Bay is a 1,553 square kilometre extension of water that was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1994 and since November 11, 2011 is one of the seven natural wonders of the world. You will have lunch on board while enjoying the breathtaking scenery.

After lunch, you will have time to enjoy kayaking and relax.

Next, you will sail to Ho Dong Tien Cave (Fairy Lake Cave), one of the most beautiful caves in Halong Bay, where you will anchor for the night. You will enjoy dinner on board and have free time for a drink on the upper deck.

Overnight on board.

After breakfast on board, you will visit Sung Sot Cave, better known as the Cave of Surprises, discovered by the French in 1901 and originally called “Grotte des Surprises”. It is a limestone karst cave, the largest in Halong Bay, which can be reached after a hard climb to Bo Hon Island. At approximately 25 metres above sea level, the cave covers a total area of about 10,000 square metres and is made up of two chambers. The first, known as the waiting room, is about 30 metres high and offers a grand entrance to the second largest chamber where you will discover a spectacle with a diverse number of flowstones, stalagmites, stalactites and columns formed over millions of years. As you enter the second chamber, you will understand why the cave is called the Cave of Surprises.

Then, during the cruise, you will pass by iconic islets such as the fighting cocks or the stone dog islet.

In more the afternoon, you will enjoy a Vietnamese cooking class by the chef on board before arriving in port and brunch on board.

After brunch, you will be transferred to Hanoi.

Overnight in Hanoi.

On this day, you will be transferred to the airport to take the flight to Luang Prabang.

Opon arrival at Luang Prabang airport, you will be transferred to the hotel.

Overnight in Luang Prabang.

After breakfast, you will travel by road to Luang Namtha. You will make some stops to visit some ethnic villages where the Khmu and Hmong ethnic groups live.

Arrival in Luang Namtha and accommodation.

In the morning, you will take a tuk tuk to the Ban Nam Dee (Lanten) village, located around 6 km far from Luang Namtha, and start the trekking. You will enjoy the beautiful landscape and observe various types of wild animals.

After a short break, you will continue trekking to the top of the mountain to enjoy the spectacular views of the valley.

On the way back, you will visit the Nam Dee Waterfall and its tribal village.

Overnight in Luang Namtha.

The day will begin with a transfer by car to Muang Sing. Along the way you will enjoy the landscapes of the area.

You will visit the ethnic minorities of Akha, Tailue and Lolo in the Muang Sing Valley.

Arrival to Muang Sing and accommodation.

Overnight in Muang Sing.

Today you will get up early to see the ethnic market and try the traditional “khao soi” (typical soup).

You will then return to Luang Namtha and on the way, visit the villages of Ban Leu Donchai and Yao Ban Phakha, home to the Akha and Yao ethnic minorities.

Arrival in Luang Namtha and accommodation.

Overnight in Luang Namtha.

In the morning, you will leave by car for Oudomxay. Upon arrival, you will visit Mount Phou That to enjoy the views of the area.

You will continue your way to Muang La and visit the sacred temple of Pha Chao Sing Kham.

Arrival in Muang Khua and accommodation.

Overnight in Muang Khua.

On this day, you will enjoy a boat ride through the Nam Ou River. You will relax on board and enjoy the landscapes and nature.

You will make a stop to visit the Khmu village before reaching Nong Khiaw.

Overnight in Nong Khiaw.

In the morning, you will visit Phathok cave and then you will be transferred to Luang Prabang. On the way, you will meet the Leu ethnic group in Ban Navang.

Upon arrival in Luang Prabang you will visit the temples of Wat Visoun, Wat May, Wat Xieng Thong and Wat Praphoutahbat.

You will climb Phousi Hill for the best view of Luang Prabang.

Transfer to the hotel and overnight in Luang Prabang.

You will start the day with a visit to Kuang Si Waterfall, which is approximately 30 km far from Luang Prabang city.

You will then be transferred to Luang Prabang airport for your flight back home.
